mit seiner schönsten Frühlingsblumen.

Sleeping Beauties - Prinsessa Ruususia

In Finland plants are having their long beauty sleep under the snow.

So great that they don't sleep a hundred years as Sleeping Beauty in the fairy tale!

Yet no sign of spring - but there they are!

In Finnland haben die Pflanzen ihren langen Schönheitsschlaf unter dem Schnee.

So toll, dass sie nicht hundert Jahre als Dornröschen im Märchen schlafen!

Noch kein Frühlingszeichen - aber da sind sie!

I think this Papaver orientale 'Olympia' is both 

a Sleeping Beauty & a pretty Ballet Dancer in the same person!

Ich denke, dieser Papaver Orientale "Olympia" ist beides -

ein Dornröschen & ein hübscher Balletttänzer in der gleichen Person!

Freezing Cold

This bruce fence of my neighbour would need a good cutting.

As I said in my Tuesday post we have had it freezing cold 10-15 C below zero.
This Thursday morning we had - 20C!

But the LIGHT and pale winter SUN have made days so beautiful.

My friends more south are admiring snowdrops, we here in The North

pure sparkling snow and structures covered with snow!

In the summer I have some sedums growing on top of this old rusty thing.

This sundial is resting under blanket of snow - new energy for the next season :)

My only DIY of this winter - very lazy me! - was to make an ice lantern,

I did not have at home withering tulips that some have used,

so I took a few cactus branches that were rotting - too much water, poor me :)

Floral Bliss #60

This week some small hydrangeas that I saw in town.

These are pot plants with only one large flower. Some hydrangeas were used in bouquets

with baby's breath / Gypsophila. The color selection was very beautiful.

But today I'll show you only the blue ones.

This week we have had glorious winter days:

clear sky, sun and about -10 - 15 C. White snow sparkles & birds are singing.

The LIGHT is something unbelievable after the darkness of winter.

In another shop there were larger ones too.

Is it possible to get buried in the snow?

Happy Wednesday my dear readers! I hope you have more pleasant weather than us 

here in the southern Finland. I'm really serious with my question 

and am afraid that I get buried in the snow!

Yesterday...

Today!

Yesterday there was no snowing and a pale winter sun & blue sky - so delightful.

I had the intention of going today to the river to take some beautiful winter photos

- but no way! It keeps pouring snow like from the hell.

Quite impossible to take any photos today - so I show you some from yesterday.

Tarkoitus oli mennä ihanalle talviselle kuvausretkelle, mutta eipä tullut mitään!

Winter Wonderland - wonderful? - Maybe not!

White Weekend

We got snow alright! Yesterday I was so exhausted from shoveling, you can't imagine.
But today almost totally recovered. The scenery is white, the sky grey.
So no light for photographing. That's why the outside photos are from last winter
when it was  a bit winter sun to be seen.

Sissi wants to go out first thing in the morning. I have to keep a path open for her.
She watches squirrels, blackbirds etc. Even on a leash I have to be careful for she attacks like a lighting!

In accordance with the snowy scenery my tulips for this weekend are white.
I tried to imitate Mascha, for she has a blue theme at her blog.
I used a painting found at a flee market & some necklace to create blue atmosphere.
It is pretty awkward, but I got blue shades!
